Kelly Rowland Says Blue Ivy Is ‘More Precious Than a Diamond’

Posted by chubbyafro - January 26th, 2012

Kelly Rowland is spilling details on Beyonce and Jay-Z’s newborn daughter Blue Ivy even before her parents get the chance to talk about her to the press.

In an interview with E! Monday night (Jan. 24) at the Hpnotiq Harmonie and Live Louder 2012 Kickoff cocktail party at the W hotel in Hollywood, the former Destiny’s Child songstress revealed that she has witnessed the beauty of baby Blue.

“She’s more precious than a diamond,” Rowland disclosed. “She’s just so stunning. I’m so happy for my sister and her husband. [Blue Ivy] is beautiful.”

The 30-year-old singer, who released her third solo album, ‘Here I Am,’ last summer, explained that she is filling the role of a “good aunt,” by seeing her niece whenever possible. When asked how Beyonce was doing after giving birth to Blue Ivy on Jan. 7, Rowland was careful not to give too many details. “She’s an incredible mother,” the raven-haired entertainer admitted. “I’m so incredibly proud of her. She’s in Mommyville… and her husband is in Daddyville.”

Before Blue was born, the ‘Motivation’ performer slipped and revealed the gender of Bey and Hov’s offspring — the public hadn’t known whether they were expecting a boy or girl.

Beyonce remembers Etta James, R.I.P.

Posted by chubbyafro - January 20th, 2012

Beyonce has released a statement remembering the late Etta James, whom she portrayed in the movie Cadillac Records.

“This is a huge loss. Etta James was one of the greatest vocalists of our time,” Beyonce said. “I am so fortunate to have met such a queen. Her musical contributions will last a lifetime. Playing Etta James taught me so much about myself, and singing her music inspired me to be a stronger artist. When she effortlessly opened her mouth, you could hear her pain and triumph. Her deeply emotional way of delivering a song told her story with no filter. She was fearless, and had guts. She will be missed.”

Etta passed away on Friday (January 20) due to complications from Leukemia. She will never be forgotten!

Beyonce designs t-shirt for Obama campaign

Posted by chubbyafro - January 14th, 2012

Beyonceis proving she’s pretty “Crazy in Love” with the first family. First, she danced up a storm last year in a music video for first lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move!” initiative. Now, the “Best Thing I Never Had” singer is selling clothes she designed to raise money for President Obama’s re-election campaign.

Beyonce is one of more than 20 designers creating everything from tanktops to clutches for Obama supporters to splurge on.

Some of the other famous faces who are part of the “Runway to Win” project, which New York magazine reports was organized by Vogue editor and Obama supporter Anna Wintour, include: Russell Simmons, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Tory Burch, Vera Wang, and Diane von Fursternberg.

Many of the same set of celebs participated in a similar fundraising effort in 2008 called “Runway to Change.” Proceeds from sales of the high-fashion items go to the Obama Victory Fund.

Beyonce, along with mom Tina Knowles designed a t-shirt emblazoned with phrases the commander-in-chief made famous, such as “Yes we can,” and, “I’m in!” The crew neck sells for and, along with the other fashions, is only available for pre-order right now. The pro-Obama wardrobe items go on sale online Feb. 7.
