Last week a photo appeared on NYMag.com of Beyoncé, dressed in a blue Roberto Cavalli jumpsuit and a funky maroon fur coat, reportedly shooting a video in New Jersey for her forthcoming studio album.
A rep for the singer never returned MTV News’ request for comment and now, nearly two weeks later, details about the video shoot are being revealed. According to Ace Showbiz, the video will be directed by music video auteur Francis Lawrence, who has gone behind the lens for Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Pink and Bey’s former girl group, Destiny’s Child.
Rumor has it that 200 African dancers and eight choreographers were hired for the clip. According to several online message boards, auditions for dancers were held in Los Angeles. Fan sites such as BeyonceDaily.com have posted blurry pictures that appear to show the singer on the set of the video, which is reportedly for the song called “Girl.”
In the snapshots, Beyoncé’s hair is done up in a faux-hawk, and she’s wearing a white jumpsuit and sunglasses. The outfit is reportedly Givenchy couture.
The song is a “female empowerment/girl power type of song that is a definite club banger with Top 40/Worldly appeal,” according to one commenter who talked about the open call after his friend attended. “The beat is driven by a sample of a popular club song that a lot of you will probably recognize. There’s a breakdown in the song that is described as absolutely disgustingly sick! Definitely an anthem in the style of her singing.” The post also backs up the claim that there will be upwards of 200 dancers in the video.
Rumors are floating around that Beyoncé’s new album may drop this June. Sony Music Australia boss Denis Handlin told The Telegraph in Australia that “it was just amazing.” He added that while he was in New York, the star herself was on hand to play some of the new music.
“She came in and played us six tracks from the album. She wants to do a big tour off the back of this record, which will include Australia,” he explained. “These songs, the best description I can give is groundbreaking; she’s gone to another level.”
Over the course of recording the new album, Beyoncé has been rumored to hit the studio with a number of big industry names like Diplo, Sleigh Bells and Kanye West’s producer S1. When she spoke to MTV News last November, she made it clear that sonically she was thinking outside the box.
“Well, I wouldn’t say I’m inventing a new genre,” Beyoncé explained. “I’m mixing every type of genre that I love and I’m inspired by every type of genre. … I’m not in a box. It’s not R&B. It’s not typically pop. It’s not rock. It’s just everything I love all mixed together in my own little gumbo of music.”

Beyoncé heads the British album charts at the midweek stage, with “4″ outselling its nearest rival by three to one boosted by her weekend appearance at Glastonbury, sales data showed on Wednesday. According to the Official Charts Company (OCC), Beyoncé is set to top the ranking by the end of the week, which would be her second British number one.
She was one of several acts to enjoy the “Glastonbury effect,” where media exposure of one of the world’s biggest music festivals boosts performers who appear. The event ran from Wednesday to Sunday, with U2, Coldplay and Beyonce grabbing most of the limelight with their headline slots on the final three days.
Besides her new album, Beyoncé’s single ‘Best Thing I Never Had’ was on course to enter at number six, one of seven tracks by the singer in the Top 75.
In the meantime Beyonce’s 4 will debut at #1 next week on the Billboard chart with between 275-300k in first-week sales. Her previous album, ‘08’s multiple Grammy winning I Am… Sasha Fierce, debuted with 463k, but that was during the Q4 sales rush in November.

Over the weekend, Beyonce helped her sister Solange celebrate her 25th birthday by shipping her 25 pairs of designer shows from Saks and Bergdorf.
Solange had previously told press, “I’m all about the shoes! I order a ton of them online and play with my entire wardrobe until I find the right shoe. Unfortunately, so many people get it right from the head until the ankles. The shoe is very important. I can’t even f**k with you if your shoe game is slacking.”

One of the many ways the MTV Movie Awards distinguishes itself from all the other awards shows out there is the unique categories for which performances by actors, actresses and assorted moments in film are nominated and awarded.
The Best Jaw Dropping Moment is a perfect example. This year’s nominees run the gamut from cringe-worthy and painful moments to larger-than-life concert experiences, amazing special effects and being covered in poo.
The nominees are: Natalie Portman for her hangnail moment in “Black Swan,” Leonardo DiCaprio and Ellen Page for the dream-within-a-dream “café scene” in “Inception,” James Franco between a rock and a hard place in “127 Hours,” Justin Bieber performing in his 3-D concert doc “Never Say Never,” and the mighty Steve-O for his Porta-Potty moment in “Jackass 3D.”
When MTV News caught up with poo and Porta-Potty expert Steve-O recently, we asked him how he feels about going up against fan favorite Justin Bieber.
“I’m not sure exactly what Justin Bieber’s jaw-dropping moment is. From what I gather, it’s not actually that spectacular,” Steve-O said, pointing to the fact that Bieber’s concert performance isn’t quite as intense as Portman’s or Franco’s painful scenes. “But with his following, I’m pretty much showing up at this Movie Awards feeling like I’m a spectator and I’m going to watch him win,” he continued. “I’m fine with that.”
The “Jackass” star went on to say that the big reason he is a fan of the Biebs is not for his singing career, but his skateboarding skills. “Justin, I’m glad you know how to ride a skateboard and you have passion for the sport,” he said to Bieber. “I consider skateboarding a sport, and I like Justin Bieber because he rides,” he revealed.
In thinking a bit more about how Bieber’s nominated moment stands out from his fellow “jaw-dropping moment” nominees, Steve-O suggested that we think about re-naming Bieber’s big scene. “It should be called a ‘panty-dropping moment,’ ” he said with a laugh. “The jailbait panty-dropping moment of all time, [by] Justin Bieber.”
And although Steve-O doesn’t expect to win, he did give himself a little plug, since in his infamous Porta-Potty bungee scene, his jaw did drop. “I should win, because my jaw was completely dropped the whole time,” he said. “I had my mouth wide open and poo flying in there, and if I didn’t drop my jaw, then that wouldn’t have happened, so I should win.”

Their visit to the Mandelas’ home was only 20 minutes in Johannesburg, so the Obama ladies had the rest of this afternoon to spend with the children of a nearby shantytown at Emthonjeni Community Center.
Mrs. O changed into this casual denim look from J.Crew–complete with a printed top from ASOS Africa and a bright yellow trench coat from one of her fave designers, Rachel Roy.
Loves the way the First Lady makes respectful diplomatic statements with her fashion. According to the White House, The top from ASOS Africa is from a collection that has been designed, sourced and produced by community groups in Africa. The collection is produced in Kenya to support the work of SOKO, a workshop dedicated to developing sustainable and long term solutions to economic challenges in Kenyan communities. Part of the money goes to philanthropy.
Sasha and Malia read "Cat & The Hat" and sang songs with the 25 kids as their mom said she read it to them when they were kids. Grandma Marian was on hand as well.
They also stopped by the Apartheid Museum where Mrs. O snapped a pic with 75 young women selected by the State Department, who are participating in a forum with her tomorrow. Fab times!
